Podcast Episode 158: The ‘4Cs’ Kids Need to Thrive in the Future

Thanks so much for coming by to check out Episode 158 of The New Family Podcast where we talk about how schools need to change in order to better equip kids for the future.

In a rapidly changing world, our kids will need different skills to thrive than the ones that we learned in school, and our education systems are going to have to adapt. My guest on this episode is Dr. Kelly Gallagher-MacKay, an education activist, lawyer, researcher and professor at Wilfred Laurier University. She’s the co-author of Pushing the Limits: How Schools Can Prepare Our Children for the Challenges of Tomorrow, which she wrote with respected educator Nancy Steinhauer. She explains why kids need to learn the “4Cs” in addition to the traditional “3Rs,” and why creativity is such a prized quality in the workplaces of today and tomorrow.

What Kelly hopes people will get out of reading Pushing the Limits

“I would say if there’s one message for the book, it’s ‘high expectations make a big difference and they make the biggest difference for students who don’t get them automatically’.”
